Crescent Electric—Management Trainee Opportunities
The objective of this program is to prepare an employee for a successful career with Crescent Electric Supply in a management or sales position. The employee will work at one of our distribution and sales offices with an experienced Branch Manager to quickly learn the fundamentals of electrical wholesaling.
The program will consist of learning the operational aspects of running a sales and distribution center. The trainee will work in all areas of the business including; warehouse, counter and inside sales, quotations, credit, invoicing, inventory management, pricing profiles and accounts payable. In addition, product training will be offered as well as the National Association of Electrical Distributor self study programs EDGE (Electrical Distributor Guided Education) and EPEC (Electrical Products Education Course). The goal is to complete the Management Trainee Program in 12 months.
At this point, Crescent and our trainee will determine the best avenue for continued growth with the company. In some cases we may determine sales and in others, operations or branch management. Additional training may be offered and/or required on an individual basis.
If additional training is required in sales, the employee will continue training with the goal of becoming a full time account manager. Time will be spent preparing a call plan for accounts that will include house accounts with growth potential as well as possible new target accounts. Several larger accounts will be assigned dual responsibility between an existing salesperson and the "trainee". This will give the trainee experience calling on an existing account with the support and help of a seasoned salesperson. Review of progress and goal attainment will be ongoing with a branch manager.
If operations or branch management is the determined direction and more training is required, we will perform much of the training listed above but we will also continue more in-depth training on the operational and managerial aspects of running a successful branch. The employee will be exposed to as many different branch activities as possible to get a well-rounded education that will provide the experience to move into a management role.
Consistent and regular feedback will be provided throughout the program from both the Branch Manager as well as an Area Manager. Once completed, the trainee will most likely assume a role in sales or operations management. Further experience will prepare the individual for future opportunities. Employees who seek management as a career path will likely begin as a Supervisor, in a smaller branch, and after successful attainment of goals will be offered opportunities as a Branch Manager.
Crescent Electric Supply is looking for individuals with strong people skills. The ability to communicate with employees as well as customers and vendors. They must have self-confidence and the ability to lead others. Good organizational skills and follow-through to achieve predetermined goals are important traits. Also critical is the ability and desire to relocate as opportunities for advancement present themselves.
