Crescent Electric Supply and GE Lighting Sponsor Sustainability Conference

Growing Sustainable Cities event draws more than 490 people from 111 cities

EAST DUBUQUE, Illinois, November 20, 2013 — Crescent Electric Supply Company recently partnered with GE Lighting to co-sponsor the 2013 Growing Sustainable Cities Conference, hosted by the City of Dubuque and Sustainable Cities Network on Sept. 25-26 in Dubuque, Iowa. Now in its sixth year, the conference featured more than 25 educational workshops and mobile tours related to sustainability, resource conservation and community engagement.

"As a privately-held company, sustainability to us is more than just good public relations", said Marty Burbridge, president and CEO of Crescent Electric. "We believe that sustainability is essential to the future growth and success of our company and to the well being of our families and the many communities that we call home."

The conference is a two-day educational opportunity for municipal professionals, elected officials and business leaders who have a common interest in sustainability and resource management. Attendees at this year's event represented 111 cities from 20 states and included municipal government officials, educators and business leaders who share a common concern - growing sustainable cities.

Deb Frodl, GE's global executive director of ecomagination, reiterated the company's commitment to sustainability as it continues to invest more than $10 billion in clean-tech research and development. GE's goal is to reduce its water use by more than 45 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent.

"We have several projects across the portfolio to help reach those goals," Frodl said. "Specifically, we are working on lighting projects to help both governments and corporations drive productivity along with efficiency within their organization."
